Popularly known as Boy Isog, Roweno Caballes surprised the crowd inside the Magsaysay Park when he filed his Certificate of Candidacy for mayor before the Commission on Elections on Monday, October 7.

Caballes said that it has been his dream to run for mayor.  Thus, the filing of his COC is the first step of fulfilling his dream, he said.

The 51-year-old candidate was a seasoned activist and performed with local musicians during mass protests and other events here.

Caballes also used to host an online mini-documentary that discussed social issues in society.

He gained popularity when he published an online comical skit called “Boy Isog” on Facebook sometime in 2019.

“What separates me from my opponent is my politics and platforms are based on the experience of the ordinary people. What I can offer is genuine service to the people,” he said.

He admitted that he has no match in terms of experience and resources compared to his formidable opponents but this will not deter him from pursuing his dreams.

“Food security, livelihood, education, health, and housing are my priorities when I’m elected,” said Caballes who is up against  former Civil Service Commission Chairman Karlo Nograles, preacher Rodolfo Cubos, and former President Duterte.
