Although the Palace did not name the official who will be taking over the DILG, Presidential Communications Office (PCO) Secretary Cesar Chavez disclosed that the oath taking will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 7.

"The President himself will make the announcement," Chavez said on Monday.

"Oath taking of the new DILG secretary will be tomorrow morning," he added.

Last week, Marcos said he has already found the person who will be replacing  current DILG chief Benhur Abalos, although he refused to name the incoming official.

In an interview on Sept. 30, the President revealed that there were only two people on his shortlist for the position.

Abalos will be stepping down from the DILG post as he will be vying for a senatorial seat in the upcoming midterm elections. He was announced as among the senatorial aspirants under the administration's slate.
