Rep. Paolo Duterte of Davao City files COC for final term

DAVAO CITY – Reelectionist Davao City first district Rep. Paolo Duterte, through his legal counsel Elijah Manuel Pepito, submitted his Certificate of Candidacy in the 2025 elections on Monday, October 7.

Rep. Duterte was the first among the two sons of former President Rodrigo Duterte to submit his COC, a day ahead of the Commission on Elections deadline on Tuesday, October 8.

The lawmaker is aiming for a third and final term.

Rep. Duterte’s team arrived at the Comelec office here past 10 a.m.

Pepito said Rep. Duterte, who is also a member of the Hugpong sa Tawong Lungsod, was unable to file as he has a prior appointment.

Two independent candidates are opposing Rep. Duterte – Rex Labis, a retired officer from the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology, and Janeth Jabines, a social worker backing independent mayoral candidate Bishop Rodolfo Cubos.

Rep. Duterte's second son, Rodrigo "Rigo" Duterte II, submitted his COC for first district councilor on Wednesday, October 2. He was the only grandchild of the former president to have filed a COC for the elections.
