1Munti Party-list files certificate of nomination for May 2025 polls

The 1Munti Party-list filed its Certificate of Nomination and Certificate of Acceptance of Nomination (CON-CAN) on Oct. 7, seeking to win a seat in the House of Representatives in the May 12, 2025 national and local elections. 

1Munti’s first nominee, lawyer Raffy Garcia, and secretary general Jojay Alcaraz, a former vice mayor of Muntinlupa, filed the CON-CAN at the Commission on Elections’ law department site at the Manila Hotel.

In joining next year’s polls, 1Munti Party-list seeks to institutionalize the programs it has initiated in Muntinlupa City, aiming for a more holistic development of young Filipinos as part of the nation-building process.

“As the Philippines seeks to become a more economically advanced nation, it must not forget its future, the children who need more sophisticated support as they grow up in a more complex society,” said Garcia.

He added, “1Munti has long advocated for the welfare of children and ensuring that they are well-prepared to enter the ranks of the workforce when they become adults. From the late registration of birth certificates, to mental health programs, to helping young people prepare for job interviews through training and the provision of corporate attire, 1Munti is there for young Filipino.” 

Here are the 10 nominees of 1Munti Party-list group: 

1. Atty Rafael Garcia - lawyer, child rights advocate

2. Dr. Nicanor Echavez - psychiatrist, mental health advocate

3. Atty. Jo Jason Alcaraz - businessman

4. Marco Ginno Yoro- businessman, sports advocate

5.  Jose C. Chua - youth advocate

6. Gabrielle Roa Limjoco - teacher , early education, literacy advocate

7 Debbie Bartolo- consultant , volunteerism advocate

8. Lee Tajonera- coach , sports advocate

9. Paolo Trillo - PBA team manager , sports advocate

10.  Michelle Sison - businesswoman , youth advocate

“These programs work well, but these are private ventures. As much as we would want to, we cannot extend the support to all young Filipinos who need them without laws which would mandate the national government and local government units to provide that support,” he added.

Alcaraz said, “Young Filipinos cannot vote, which means that they are at a disadvantage from more organized sectors when seeking the support and resources they need from the government. 1Munti hopes that with seats in Congress, we can ensure that their needs are not neglected. We are focusing on children and young Filipinos not just for them, but for the nation. We cannot sustain economic growth and national development if we do equip new generations with the means to help themselves and become productive citizens,” he said.
