Duterte calls on gov't to invest in education

Vice President and former Education secretary Sara Duterte has called on the public to encourage the government to invest in education and address learning poverty in the country.

Duterte on Saturday, Oct. 5, made the call as she joined in the celebration of World Teacher’s Day.

The Vice President recognized the contributions of teachers for shaping the minds of the Filipino children, but also stressed the need of the latter.

“We are grateful for the sacrifices you make in shaping the minds of young Filipinos and inspiring them to become responsible citizens,” she said.

Duterte said that the teachers’ tireless efforts in classrooms and communities demonstrate their commitment to building a stronger nation.

“Let us urge our government and private sector leaders and every Filipino from all walks of life to invest in education and join us in addressing learning poverty,” she said.

“Let every Filipino child reach their full potential,” she added.
