Cotabato City mayor, Pacquiao son, ex-TESDA head file COCs

Reelectionist Mayor Mohammad Bruce Matabalao of Cotabato City and his running mate, former Barangay Poblacion 2 chairman Johair Madag, filed their Certificates of Candidacy before the Commission on Elections on Saturday, October 5.

Also submitting their candidacies was their complete slate for city council.

Challenging Matabalao and Madag are Vice Mayor Johari Butch Abu and running mate Bimbo Ayunan-Pasawiran of Serbisyong Inklusibo-Alyansang Progresibo and former Mayor Cynthia Guiani-Sayadi and her running mate Councilor Japal Guiani III of the Nationalist People’s Coalition.

Matabalao is running under the United Bangsamoro Justice Party (UBJP), the political party of the Moro Islamic Liberation Front (MILF).

Also filing COCs on Saturday were former Rep. Bai Sandra Sema for Maguindanao del Norte congresswoman and former Sen. Manny Pacquiao’s son, rapper Michael Pacquiao, for General Santos City councilor.

Michael, 22, who is running under the local party People’s Champ Movement, was accompanied by his parents Manny and Jinkee.

The PCM is led by his Michael’s auntie, General Santos City Mayor Lorelie Pacquiao.

Former Technical Education and Skills Development Authority Director General Suharto Mangudadatu and running mate former vice governor Ainee Sinsuat of then Maguindanao province filed their COCs for Maguindanao del Norte governor and vice governor, respectively, on Friday, October 4.

In Basilan, Gov. Hadjiman Hataman-Salliman and son, Jimael Salam Salliman, a provincial board member, filed their COCs for vice governor and governor, respectively, on Friday.

All candidates for provincial board member have also turned in their  COCs.

Others from Basilan who filed COCs were Vice Gov. Yusop Alano for congressman; Isabela City Vice Mayor Kifli Hataman-Salliman, Gov. Salliman’s youngest son, for mayor, and his running mate provincial board member Moumar Muarip for vice mayor, and their full slate for the city council.
