4 NPA rebels yield in Guihulngan City


BACOLOD CITY – Four New People's Army (NPA) rebels surrendered to the government in Guihulngan City, Negros Oriental on Wednesday, October 2.

The Army 62nd Infantry Battalion identified the surrenderers as alias Jay, alias Alver, alias Mae, and alias Ara from the Central Negros 1-Komiteng Rehiyon Negros Cebu Bohol Siquijor.

The rebel returnees surrendered a .357 caliber revolver. They received grocery packs and cash assistance from the city government. 

Brig. Gen. Orlando Edralin, commander of the 303rd Infantry Brigade (IBde), lauded soldiers and the local government of Guihulngan for their successful collaborative effort in facilitating their surrender.

Edralin assured the surrenderers that the government has programs for them. "Your Army in Negros is more than willing to welcome you back into the mainstream society," he said.

He warned those continuing with the armed struggle that the Army will relentlessly hunt them down until they will have no other option but to surrender.
