2-hectare gov't lot in Davao City turned over to SC for Judiciary Compound in Mindanao
A two-hectare government property in Davao City has been turned over to the Supreme Court (SC) as site of the proposed Judiciary Compound in Mindanao.
The Deed of Conveyance on the property was signed by Court Administrator Raul B. Villanueva in behalf of the SC and Secretary Maria Antonia Yulo-Loyzaga in behalf of the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR).
A press briefer issued by the SC’s Public Information Office (SC-PIO) said the proposed Judiciary Compound will house the Davao City Hall of Justice with provision for at least five additional Regional Trial Courts (RTCs) and five additional Municipal Trial Courts in Cities (MTCCs), and two offices of the clerks of court for RTCs and MTCCs.
A Judiciary Building will be constructed to house an en banc (full court) session hall, the office of the deputy court administrator for Mindanao, office of the judiciary marshal, and office of the regional court manager.
Also, there would be a library in the compound, a data center under the Management Information Systems Office, the Mindanao Training Center of the Philippine Judicial Academy, a convention center with function rooms and conference rooms, and a “dormtel” with housing for staff and visitors.
The SC-PIO said the signing of the Deed of Conveyance was witnessed by Associate Justice Ramon Paul L. Hernando, Deputy Court Administrator Leo T. Madrazo, DENR Undersecretary Ernesto D. Adobo, Jr., and DENR Undersecretary Ignatius Loyola A. Rodriguez.
Chief Justice Alexander G. Gesmundo has officially received a copy of the deed which was turned over by Court Administrator Villanueva.
