Vilma Santos jumps back into politics with sons Luis Manzano, Ryan Recto in tow


A family affair, indeed.

Actress Vilma Santos-Recto has made formal her intention to join politics anew, filing her certificate of candidacy seeking the gubernatorial seat in Batangas.

Joining in on the fun is her eldest son, actor-TV host Luis Manzano, who, after much shilly-shallying, is now fulfilling predictions, filing his certificate of candidacy as his mom's vice governor.

That's not all. 

Vilma's other son, Ryan Recto, has also picked up the gauntlet, raring to become representative of the 6th district of Batangas.

While there are many who are only too quick to celebrate the development, there are a few who are grumbling, citing how it all reeks of dynastic politics.

Whatever the case maybe, the Star For All Seasons is unbothered.

She believes there’s nothing wrong with her sons joining politics, citing how both are more than ready for the responsibility, noting they have been exposed to public service since they were children.

More than being prepared, she attests to the two having a heart for those in need, the marginalized, the downtrodden.

The award-winning actress, among pillars of local show business, made clear she is not forcing the idea on people.

She told Pep.Ph, ““Hindi lang naman kami ang gumawa niyan. At saka kami, nag-o-offer ng serbisyo — ang tao naman ang boboto kung pagkakatiwalaan kami o hindi...”
