House Speaker Martin Romualdez has strongly condemned on Friday afternoon, Oct. 4 the ambush-slay of Bulacan Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member Ramilito Capistrano, and his driver Shedrick Suarez, in Malolos City.
“We condemn in the strongest term possible the ambush that killed Sangguniang Panlalawigan Member and ABC President Capistrano and his driver Suarez,” Speaker Romualdez said in a statement.
The killings took place on Thursday night, Oct. 3 amid the nationwide filings of certificates of candidacy for the May 2025 mid-term elections.
Romualdez expressed his deepest sympathies to the families of the victims and the Bulacan community.
“We extend our condolences to the families of SP Capistrano and Suarez, Barangay Caingin of San Rafael municipality, and the people of Bulacan,” he said.
The House chief underscored the need for immediate action from all concerned authorities.
“We join the representatives from Bulacan and the Bulacan provincial government led by Governor Daniel Fernando in pressing all our law enforcement agencies and authorities to investigate and apprehend the perpetrators quickly. Justice should be served,” Romualdez said.
He urged the public to remain calm and to assist law enforcement in their investigation.
“At the same time, we call on our people to stay calm and cooperate with law enforcement in the investigation,” Speaker Romualdez concluded.
