The Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) will host "PROJECT DAPAT: Jobs Fair" on Thursday, Oct.10, at the Ayala Malls Manila Bay in Parañaque City, providing nearly 7,000 job vacancies to assist displaced workers from the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators (POGO) sector following President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.'s directive to ban POGOs.

In collaboration with the DOLE-National Capital Region (DOLE-NCR) MUNTAPARLAS Field Office and the Parañaque City Government's Public Employment Service Office (PESO), the job fair aims to connect former POGO employees with potential employers across various industries in Metro Manila.

The initiative addresses the employment challenges faced by displaced workers by offering a diverse range of positions to facilitate their transition into new roles, the DOLE said.

As of Oct. 4, 33 employers have confirmed their participation, representing multiple sectors and a wide array of job vacancies.

A one-stop-shop service will also be available to assist job seekers in completing the necessary requirements.

Applicants are advised to bring copies of their resumes and other pre-employment documents to the job fair.

Marcos announced the immediate ban of all Pogo operations during his State of the Nation Address (SONA) in July, citing grave abuse and disrespect to the country's system of laws.

Illegal pogo operations are being tied to numerous crimes such as human trafficking, scamming, and even those concerning national security among others.
