DFA cancels passport of Alice Guo

The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) said it has cancelled the passport of dismissed Bamban, Tarlac mayor Alice Guo, who is also alleged to be a Chinese spy Guo Hua Ping, since Sept. 30.

The agency said it terminated the "fraudulently acquired" Philippine passport of Guo upon its receipt of request from the Department of Justice (DOJ).

The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) also confirmed that the dismissed mayor's biometrics matched those of Guo Hua Ping on its records.

DFA cited the provision of the New Philippine Passport Law in cancelling Guo's passport, which is:

"A passport may be denied, or cancelled, or restrictions may be imposed
on a passport, based on the following ground: when a passport was acquired fraudulently, tampered with, or issued erroneously."

DFA said it is committed to upholding the security and integrity of issuing Philippine passports.

It also assured the public that fraudulent application and acquisition of passports are referred to law enforcement agencies for investigation and prosecution.

"The DFA enforces Zero Tolerance Policy for unscrupulous individuals circumventing the
Philippine passport application and issuance procedures," it said.

In an Al Jazeera documentary aired on Sept. 26, She Zhejia, a Chinese spy detained in Thailand and fighting repatriation to China, said he had worked with Guo for China's Ministry of State Security.

She also released a dossier containing Guo's personal information, including her mother, who was a Chinese national as well as her local address in China's Fujian province, which is also the local address of the Communist Party of China.

She urged Guo to "tell the world the truth" before she gets "eliminated."
