Quezon City extends P10 Million aid to Bicol LGUs hit by Typhoon Kristine


The Quezon City government will donate P10 million in financial aid to nine local government units affected by Typhoon Kristine in the Bicol region.

Iriga City will receive P2 million, and the LGUs of Bato, Nabua, Bula, Buhi, Pili, and Tinambac in Camarines Sur will receive P1 million each.

Meanwhile, In Albay Province, the municipalities of Lisbon and Guinobatan will each receive P1 million.

“Ito’y bahagi ng aming tungkulin na tulungan ang aming kapwa lokal na pamahalaan para sila’y makabangon mula sa epekto ng kalamidad (This is part of our duty to help our fellow local governments so that they can recover from the effects of the calamity),” Mayor Joy Belmonte said.

“Nagpapasalamat tayo sa ating Quezon City Council, sa pangunguna ni Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, at sa ating mga konsehal sa pagkilos na ito. Umaasa tayo na malayo ang mararating ng tulong na ito para sa mga taga-Bicol (We thank our Quezon City Council, led by Vice Mayor Gian Sotto, and our councilors for this action. We hope that this assistance will go a long way for the people of Bicol),” she added.
 

The Quezon City Council approved Resolution No. SP-9833 during a special session on Oct. 29, 2024, authorizing Mayor Belmonte to provide financial aid to nine Bicol LGUs.

The city mayor also said that the areas were selected upon the recommendation of the Quezon City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council through Resolution No. 8, S-2024.


The said financial aid will be sourced from Quezon City’s accumulated Local Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (LRDDM) Trust Fund.
