Lino Cayetano to appeal decision of Comelec ERB in Taguig denying his bid to transfer voter registration
Former Taguig mayor and congressional candidate Lino Cayetano said he will appeal the decision of the Commission on Elections’ Election Registration Board (ERB) that denied his application to transfer his voter registration to the 1st District of Taguig-Pateros.
Lino Cayetano is running for congressman in the 1st District, challenging incumbent Rep. Ricardo “Ading” Cruz Jr., a candidate backed by Taguig Mayor Lani Cayetano and Sen. Alan Peter Cayetano.
In 2013, Lino Cayetano was elected congressman of the 2nd District of Taguig and served for one term.

In a decision, the Comelec ERB in Taguig rejected the applications of Lino Cayetano and his wife Fille after they failed to provide enough evidence to back their claim.
An employee of the Taguig City hall and a tricycle driver questioned his application to transfer voter registration to the 1st District.
In a statement, Lino Cayetano said, “We will appeal the decision of the Election Registration Board. Fille and I have every right to transfer our registration to the First District of Taguig and Pateros.”
“Our family is from the First District of Taguig and Pateros. My father grew up in Pateros and all of us siblings were registered voters of District 1,” he said.
He added, “Fille and I have had a house in Ususan since 2019 when I was Mayor of Taguig City. We will fight not only to uphold our right to vote in the First District but also to uncover who is behind the malicious campaign to hinder us from transferring. Our faith in the courts and COMELEC remains.”
Lino Cayetano said he believes that he will be able to run for congressman in the 1st District of Taguig-Pateros in the May 2025 national and local elections.
“We are confident that I will be running as Representative of Taguig and Pateros in the upcoming elections,” he said.
He added, “We need to change the discourse in Taguig from politics and personalities to a discussion of our government's programs, projects and policies and how it will help uplift the lives of people. Taguig and Pateros will have a strong and independent voice in Congress.”
Lino Cayetano also said he can prove his case up to the Supreme Court.
