Customs-NAIA seizes P10.01M 'kush' hidden in parcel

The Bureau of Customs-Ninoy Aquino International Airport (BOC-NAIA) said Friday, Nov. 1, that it has intercepted a parcel containing P10.01 million worth of high-grade marijuana or “kush”.

The parcel was intercepted through physical examination last Oct. 30 and it yielded 7,154 grams of kush with an estimated street value of P10,015,600, according to lawyer Yasmin O. Mapa, BOC-NAIA district collector.

The intercepted drugs were handed over to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) for further investigation and filing of appropriate charges under Republic Act No. 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002) and Republic Act No. 10863 (Customs Modernization and Tariff Act), Mapa said.

The operation was carried out in close coordination with the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) and the NAIA Inter-Agency Drug Interdiction Task Group (NAIA-IADITG).

“We are intensifying our efforts to prevent illegal drugs from infiltrating our borders. Each successful operation demonstrates our determination to protect the Filipino people,” Mapa said.

“Our team remains vigilant, working with partners to prevent the trafficking of dangerous substances and uphold the safety of our communities,” she added.
