3 dead in motorcycle crashes in Isabela


CAUAYAN CITY, Isabela – Three persons were killed and two others were injured in motorcycle accidents in this province on Wednesday.

Police said that the motorcycle driven by Josefino Marcelo Jr., 20, with back riders Diether Marcelo, 18, and Junjun, 17, accidentally crashed into a parked truck in Barangay Maligaya, Echague. 

The victims were taken to a hospital where Josefino and Diether were declared dead. 

Police Major Mervin delos Santos, Echague chief of police, said the victims were allegedly drunk.

Meanwhile, a tricycle driver, Jun Baddungon, 42, of Barangay Turod, Reina Mercedes, Isabela, was killed and his passenger, Marcelo Baddungon, 44, also a resident of Barangay Turod, was injured when their tricycle accidentally collided with a trailer truck in Barangay San Fermin here.

Police said the tricycle allegedly overtook a vehicle on the opposite lane and failed to notice the oncoming trailer truck.

The victims sustained injuries and were taken to a hospital where Jun was declared dead. 

The truck driver is now under police custody.

Police are conducting follow-up investigation on both accidents.
