2 inmates bolt Leyte jail

TACLOBAN CITY -- Authorities are currently searching for two prisoners who escaped from the Leyte Sub-Provincial Jail in Barangay Veloso, Calubian, Leyte on Thursday, Oct. 31.

The escapees were identified as Arnel Halichic, 44, of Barangay Cabalquinto, Calubian, and Reggie Pepito, 32, of Barangay Suba, Villaba, Leyte.

A report filed by a jail officer of the Leyte Sub-Provincial Jail said the two prisoners escaped at around 3:20 p.m. by jumping over an unfinished concrete wall.

They boarded a motorcycle waiting outside the facility toward the southern part of Calubian.

Authorities are conducting follow-up investigation and coordinating with police stations to conduct checkpoints and dragnet operations for their arrest.
