The Philippine National Police (PNP) will be deploying more than 27,000 police officers nationwide to enhance police visibility and provide assistance and security during All saints Day and All Souls Day, Department of the Interior and LOcal Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic’’ Remulla stated on Wednesday, Oct. 30.
Likewise, Remulla assured that the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) and the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) will provide the necessary assistance and support the PNP in addressing public safety concerns and responding to emergencies as the need arises.
“As we commemorate and pray for the souls of our departed loved ones, the DILG urges the public to practice vigilance against criminals and scammers who take advantage of big crowds in cemeteries,’’ Remulla said.
As the DILG joins the nation in the observance of All Saints Day and All Souls Day, Remulla appealed to the public to cooperate and adhere to proper protocols in the cemeteries “against consumption of alcoholic beverages, gambling and instigating all forms of disturbances.’’
Remulla also urged all local government units (LGUs) to convene their respective Local Peace and Order Council (LPOC) and adequately prepare and ensure the safety and security of the people who will flock to cemeteries, memorial parks and churches.
“They (LGUs) are also expected to mobilize and deploy traffic enforcers, barangay tanods, Barangay Peacekeeping Action Teams (BPATs), medical personnel, and other force multipliers within the vicinity of the said places,’’ Remulla pointed out.
“Sa mahalagang panahon na ito ng paggunita sa ating mga namayapang mahal sa buhay, maging maingat at mapagbantay. Ang DILG po ay kasangga ninyo tungo sa mapayapa at maayos na paggunita ng UNDAS 2024. (In this important day in memory of our dearly departed loved ones, let us be cautious and on guard. The DILG is with you towards the peaceful and orderly observance of UNDAS 2024),’’ he continued.
