Filipino fashion designer Michael Cinco among judges at 73rd Miss Universe Competition in Mexico

Popular Filipino fashion designer Michael Cinco has been chosen as a member of the selection committee for the 73rd Miss Universe Competition in Mexico on Nov. 16 (Nov. 17 Manila time).

"Get ready for a dash of haute couture on the Miss Universe stage, @michaelcinco5 acclaimed designer of luxurious gowns for Hollywood’s elite, joins the selection committee for the 73rd Miss Universe bringing his fashion expertise. Elegance and beauty will reign supreme!" read the official announcement in the Miss Universe Facebook on Oct. 30.

Cinco, who is based in Dubai, is the 12th Filipino to be part of the selection committee in the history of the prestigious pageant.

  • fashion designer Josie Cruz Natori (1989)
  •  singer Kuh Ledesma (1991)
  •  philanthropist businessman Don Emilio T. Yap (1994)
  • Broadway star Lea Salonga (2011) 
  • boxing champ Manny Pacquiao (2015) 
  • Miss Universe 2015 Pia Wurtzbach (2017)
  • New-York based Filipino-American fashion designer Monique Lhuillier and Louis Chavit Singson (LCS) Group of companies'
  • CEO Richelle Singson-Michael (2018)
  • Kapuso actress Marian Rivera (2021); 
  • Olivia Quido-Co (2023).

 

Also joining Cinco in the judges table are 1978 Miss Universe Margartet Gardine of South Africa, Italian entrepreneur Gianlucca Vacchi, and Telemundo Network's Jessica Carrillo.
