CALAMBA CITY, Laguna – The Department of Health-Center for Health Development-Calabarzon (Cavite, Laguna, Batangas, Rizal, and Quezon area) has reminded the people to stay safe and healthy this All Saints’ Day.
DOH Assistant Secretary Dr. Ariel Valencia urged the people to practice proper food preparation and handling, avoid packing perishable food and be cautious of food that may have been prepared under questionable conditions, stay hydrated, drink plenty of water to prevent dehydration, and wear appropriate clothing (light-colored, loose-fitting clothing) to help regulate body temperature and prevent heatstroke.
The agency has placed hospitals and health facilities in the region on Code White Alert from Nov. 1 to 2.
Valencia said Code White Alert enables health workers to immediately respond to emergencies in cemeteries and also signifies the readiness of all hospitals and health facilities within the region to respond effectively to any possible rescue, transfer, and referral of cases.
He also asked urged parents and caregivers not to bring their infants or children to cemeteries.
"Hangga't maaari huwag na po natin isama ang mga sanggol dahil alam naman natin na madali pang kapitan ng sakit ang mga bata. Lalo na rin sa panahon ngayon na tag-ulan."
(If possible do not bring infants or children to cemeteries because they prone to sickness particularly due to rainy weather)
