Marcos names Orbos as acting PTV board chair

President Marcos has named former Executive Secretary Oscar Orbos as Acting Chairperson and Member of the Board of Directors for the People's Television Network, Inc. (PTNI), representing the private sector, the Presidential Communications Office (PCO) reporter.

Orbos served as executive secretary and secretary of Transportation and Communications under the late president Corazon Aquino's administration from 1990 to 1991.

President Marcos has also made several other appointments: political analyst Antonio Contreras as Acting Vice Chairperson and Member of the PTNI Board of Directors, representing the educational sector; former PTNI General Manager Kat De Castro as director-general of the Philippine Information Agency (PIA); and lawyer Francis Carlo Taparan as Director IV of the National Printing Office (NPO).

Beyond his cabinet role, Orbos has held elected positions, serving as Congressman for Pangasinan's first district from 1987 to 1990 and as Governor of the province from 1995 to 1998. He also co-hosted GMA Network's "Debate with Mare at Pare" alongside economics professor Solita Monsod.

 

 

More appointments

 

President Marcos also named Michelle Anne Gonzales as a new commissioner at the Presidential Commission for the Urban Poor.

Her appointment letter, dated Sept. 27, stated that she would replace Pablo Guanco.

Gonzales was a councilor in Taguig City’s second district from 2010 to 2016.

She is the mother of National Youth Commission (NYC) Commissioner-at-Large Michelle Mae Gonzales who was appointed to the post in August this year.

Meanwhile, President Marcos also appointed Rommel Vallejo as Director IV (Assistant Director) at the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI).

In his letter to Department of Justice (DOJ) Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla dated Sept. 27, the President said Vallejo will replace Leo Edwin Leuterio.
