He was accompanied by his running mate for vice mayor, PJ Malonzo, along with their slate of city councilors.
“Ngayong araw po na ito ako po ay nag-file ng COC sa pagka-mayor ng Caloocan City. Bilang tubong Barangay 169 ng Kaloocan, layunin po natin ay maiahon ang ating mga kababayan dito at mula sa kahirapan at ayusin ang mga samu’t saring problema ng ating lungsod (Today, I filed my certificate of candidacy for mayor of Caloocan City. As a native of Barangay 169, my goal is to lift our fellow citizens out of poverty and address the various problems of our city),” Trillanes said.
He described his candidacy as a new challenge in his public service career but emphasized the importance of running at this time
“Ito po ay bagong hamon sa aking buhay, being a public servant. Pero ito po ay nararapat at napapanahon. So, in the coming months, it will be very intense as we try to dismantle a corrupt political dynasty which is determined to hold on to Caloocan (This is a new challenge in my life as a public servant. But it is necessary and timely. In the coming months, it will be very intense as we work to dismantle a corrupt political dynasty that is determined to hold on to Caloocan),” Trillanes said.

He also emphasized that his campaign will be centered on offering Caloocan residents a proven track record of integrity, honesty, and strong anti-corruption measures.
On September 14, during the mass oath-taking of the Magdalo Partylist, Trillanes announced his intention to run for mayor.
He said that he and his team had been engaging with Caloocan residents for months, listening to their pleas for change.
