Cops nab man for stealing bicycle in Navotas City


The Navotas City Police Station (NCPS) arrested a man for stealing a bicycle along Agora St., Barangay North Boulevard Bay South (NBBS), Kaunlaran, Navotas City on Wednesday, October 2.

The suspect, identified as 35-year-old Arwin Pineda, a resident of Barangay NBBS Proper, was apprehended following a report by the victim, 60-year-old Saturnino Bautista.

Bautista had parked his bicycle outside a hardware store to purchase some construction materials.

Upon returning, he discovered the bicycle, which he had purchased in Japan 30 years ago while working as a seaman, was missing.

Bautista sought assistance from the Barangay Public Safety Officers (BPSO) of Barangay NBBS Kaunlaran after failing to find his bicycle.

Upon reviewing the close-circuit television (CCTV) footage, authorities saw Pineda stealing and riding off on the bicycle.

NCPS personnel launched a follow-up operation with the help of a witness identified as “Marwin” and they successfully found and arrested the suspect.

However, the stolen bicycle, a black mountain racer bike valued at ₱5,000, has yet to be recovered.

Police said that the suspect will face theft charges.
