Teenage boy shot dead in Cebu City


CEBU CITY – Kenjie de Jesus was supposed to celebrate his 14th birth anniversary on Wednesday, Oct. 30. He was looking forward to that special day and had given his mother P500 for a simple celebration.

De Jesus, however, did not make as instead of a birth anniversary celebration, his family is attending his wake.

He died on the spot after he was repeatedly shot by two bonnet-wearing gunmen outside his house in Barangay Mabolo here around 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 28.

Police said the victim went outside his house but was met by gunshots. The victim was shot thrice.

A 46-year-old neighbor said that he was about to sleep when he heard gunshots. The neighbor went outside to check and found a bloodied De Jesus slumped on the ground.

Scene-of-the-Crime Operatives (SOCO) recovered three spent bullet shells in the area and 13 packs of suspected shabu from the victim’s pocket.

The victim’s mother admitted that her son was involved in illegal drug activities, police said.

She said Kenjie was her lone child and had repeatedly reprimanded him but her pleas fell on deaf ears.

Police are conducting an investigation to possibly identify the assailants.
