The website is an extension of the CMPG Project supported by the Office of Sen. Loren Legarda.
The CMPG “seeks to enhance the inclusive involvement of communities in the conservation of natural heritage and the protection and safeguarding of cultural assets” of Aklan, Antique, Capiz, Guimaras, Iloilo, as well as Negros Occidental.
Led by project manager Prof. Martin Genodepa and project leader Anna Razel L. Ramirez, the CMPG Project has been collaborating with state universities, national government agencies, and local government units (LGUs) to safeguard and promote the cultural treasures of the region.
According to Legarda, sharing the cultural mapping data in an online platform gives access to the region’s heritage to people from around the world.
The website is gradually uploading the information researched by teams from West Visayas State University (WVSU), Iloilo Science and Technology University (ISAT-U), Iloilo Science University of Fisheries Science and Technology (ISUFST), Capiz State University (CAPSU), University of Antique (UA), Aklan State University (ASU), Guimaras State University (GSU), and the Department of Education-Region 6.
Ramirez said that CMPG Project has website developer Mark Reynan Villasana and Information Technology experts Vanessa M. Coo and Wilfredo Palete Jr. Also part of the website development team are Kyle Philip Ravena, Daniel dela Cruz, and Aodh Austin Joash Alegoro.
