University of the Philippines and Ateneo renew their "Katipunan" rivalry once again as the neighboring schools collide in the UAAP men’s basketball tournament Wednesday, Oct. 30, at Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

After securing their Final Four ticket via a 70-59 triumph over Adamson, the Fighting Maroons (8-1) seek to bolster their bid for a playoff bonus and go for three in a row against the Blue Eagles (3-7), who are hoping to keep their semis chances alive.
The two fierce rivals engage in another classic war which is set at 6:30 p.m., while the Red Warriors (6-3) aim to keep their good position when they battle the struggling Adamson Soaring Falcons (3-7) at 2 p.m.
The Diliman-based squad had a huge scare in its last contest as Adamson took over in the first three quarters before UP fought back mightily in the final canto.
JD Cagulangan, who starred with 17 points to anchor UP versus Adamson, hopes that he and his teammates will break the habit of being too complacent especially coming off the break.
“Siguro nandun ‘yong part na siguro ‘yong kumpiyansa masyado and masyadong relaxed, especially galing sa break. Siguro kailangan lang namin tanggalin yung habit na gano'n,” said Cagulangan.
“Kailangan ibalik kung paano kami nag-start ng season. Every start ng game, kailangan diin kaagad,” he added.
Cagulangan is expected to lead the Goldwin Monteverde-mentored group along with Gerry Abadiano, Gani Stevens, Terrence Fortea and Mark Belmonte.
Ateneo, on the other hand, wants to avenge itself after its first round 77-61 defeat to UP in the season opener. The Blue Eagles rely on their rookie star Jared Bahay, who notched his career-high 22 points versus another rival La Salle (10-1).
Bahay connives with Chris Koon, Kristian Porter, Shawn Tuano and Ian Espinosa to be at the forefront of coach Tab Baldwin crew.
