The Navotas City government received multiple accolades at the 2024 Urban Governance Exemplar Awards, presented by the Department of Interior and Local Government - National Capital Region (DILG-NCR) on Monday, October 28.

The city’s public information office, Navotas earned a highly functional rating for both the Local Committee on Anti-Trafficking and Violence Against Women and Children and the Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ADAC).
The city was also recognized with a high-performance rating in the Peace and Order Council and the Local Council for the Protection of Children.
Navotas was honored as a Child-Friendly Local Government and was highly compliant with the Manila Bay Clean-Up, Rehabilitation, and Preservation Program (MBCRPP).
It was also named the top performer among LGUs for its initiatives involving informal settler families in the MBCRPP.
Additionally, the city secured second place in the Fisheries Compliance Audit (FishCA) and received the SubayBAYANI award for its excellence, innovation, and governance practices in managing local infrastructure.
“These awards serve as a testament to our dedication to upholding the safety, inclusivity, and sustainability of our city,” Mayor John Rey Tiangco said.
“Each recognition is a victory for our citizens, inspiring us to strive even harder to make Navotas a hub of opportunity, security, and progress,” he added.
Tiangco received the awards along with City Planning and Development Officer Engr. Rufino Serrano and DILG OIC director Jennifer Galorport.
City’s Environment and Natural Resources Office head Yzabela Bernadina Nazal-Habunal, Assistant City Engineer Dyan Lyka Pavia and Special Assistant to the ADAC Chairperson and Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer (DRRMO) Dr. Vonne Villanueva also graced to the event.
The city's public information office said that the Urban Governance Exemplar Awards celebrate the outstanding contributions of Metro Manila LGUs, with winners selected based on a comprehensive assessment and validation of LGU programs and projects by the DILG.
