CAMP FLORENDO, La Union – The Police Regional Office-1 has deployed 3,461 police personnel to maintain peace and order in the Ilocos region, composed of the provinces of Ilocos Norte, Ilocos Sur, La Union, and Pangasinan, for All Saints’ Day.
Police Brig. Gen. Lou F. Evangelista, Ilocos police chief, said 2,039 personnel will be deployed in 393 cemeteries, memorial parks, and columbaria, 259 in recreational parks, resorts, and tourist destinations, 349 in commercial areas, 562 on national highways and main roads, 42 in roads under construction, 53 in airports, and 157 in bus terminals under Ligtas Undas 2024.
Evangelista said Ligtas Undas 2024 aims to provide increased visibility and prompt response to potential incidents.
The PRO-1 has tapped 567 personnel from other units and partnered with 1,711 advocacy groups. They, alongside community partners, will play a crucial role in crowd control, traffic management, and providing immediate assistance to those in need.
Evangelista said they are well-prepared for Undas. Police assistance desks have been set up in cemeteries, terminals, and other high-traffic areas where people can easily seek help, he added.
PRO-1 encouraged the public to remain vigilant and cooperative and reported any suspicious activity to nearby officers or assistance desks.
“We are fully committed to safeguarding the public as they honor their loved ones. With the collaborative support of our partners and communities, we aim to make this year’s Undas observance safe, secure, and peaceful for everyone.”
“For assistance or emergencies, the public may contact the nearest police station or the PRO-1 hotline,” he added.
