The Philippine National Police (PNP) has deployed more than 4,000 of its personnel in various areas that were classified as hardest hit by tropical storm ‘Kristine”.

Among the instructions to the deployed policemen were to conduct relief operations especially in areas that are still flooded in Albay and Camarines Sur, the conduct of road-clearing operations and even the search and retrieval operations in areas that were hit by landslides in Batangas.

“In regions such as Bicol and Eastern Visayas, which bore the brunt of the storm, Disaster Response Units (DRUs) were rapidly deployed, along with personnel and mobility assets, to conduct large-scale rescue missions,” said Marbil.

“The PNP also closely coordinated with local authorities in Bacoor, Cavite, where teams rescued residents trapped by rising floodwaters,” he added.

Marbil then lauded his men for what he described as heroic efforts of police officers for  dedication in the face of extreme danger.

“Our policemen have shown remarkable courage, putting their lives on the line to protect and save others. From wading through dangerous floodwaters to evacuate children to safety, to rescuing entire families trapped in their homes, their selflessness and bravery are beyond measure," said Marbil.

“Each act of heroism by our police officers brings hope to those in danger. They are more than just peacekeepers; they are the lifeline for our fellow Filipinos in times of crisis,” he added.

The efforts of PNP personnel, according to Marbil, have so far resulted in the safe evacuation of more than 300,000 individuals to temporary shelters.

He said ongoing operations continue to focus on distributing relief goods and providing medical assistance to communities in need.
