Body found, fisherman reported missing in Laguna


BIÑAN CITY, Laguna – Authorities found a body believed to be that of a severe tropical storm “Kristine” victim floating on the Biñan River here on Saturday afternoon, Oct. 26.

The body was found by Philippine Coast Guard SN2 Norwin Amjel E. Genese, ASN John Paul C. Maniego, and the Biñan Bantay Lawa team while on patrol.

The corpse was already bloated when it was discovered and had no sign of injuries or struggle.

Police have requested assistance from the Regional Forensic Unit 4-A to identify the victim.

Meanwhile, a 53-year-old fisherman was reported missing while retrieving a fishing net on the Laguna Lake at the height of Kristine in Barangay San Roque, San Pedro, Laguna on Thursday afternoon, Oct. 24.

Police said the victim Danilo F. Hilario was reported missing by his daughter after he failed to return home. 

The PCG and searched the lake but he was not found. Search and retrieval operations are ongoing.
