Storm damages 318 houses in Negros Occidental


BACOLOD CITY – Three-hundred eighteen houses have been damaged by severe tropical storm “Kristine” in 13 local government units (LGUs) in Negros Occidental.

The provincial government said 32 houses were totally and 286 houses were partially damaged as of Friday, Oct. 25.

Sagay City has the most number of damaged houses with 84, followed by Hinoba-an with 68, Pontevedra with 31, Cadiz City, 27; San Enrique, 25; Valladolid, 16; Sipalay City, 15;  Escalante City, 13; Victorias and San Carlos cities with 12 each; Cauayan, 10; Isabela, four; and Hinigaran, one.

Kristine displaced 2,348 families or 8,452 individuals in 108 barangays in the province.

Cadiz City has 734 families, followed by Sipalay City, 511; Sagay City, 269; Hinoba-an, 157; Cauayan, 140; Silay City, 128; Pontevedra, 98; Bago City, 61; Valladolid, 49; Hinigaran, 43; Binalbagan, 41; San Carlos City, 28; San Enrique, 25; Escalante, 22; Ilog, 18; Victorias City, 12; Isabela, 10; and La Carlota City, two.
