Heavy traffic expected on Oct. 27 due to QC bike ride


Motorists are urged to plan their routes accordingly as the Quezon City (QC) local government warns of heavy traffic due to a cycling event in the city on Sunday, October 27.

The event will start at 4:30 a.m. and end at 12 p.m.

According to the LGU, heavy traffic is expected along Epifanio De Los Santos Avenue (EDSA), Clover Leaf Street, Old Samson Road, Kaingin Road, Seminary Road, Villa Socorro Street, Oblates Father Street, Congressional Avenue, Visayas Avenue, Tandang Sora Avenue, Himlayan Road, Pantranco, and Road 2.

Traffic jams are also expected along Road 6, Banlat  Road, Luzon Avenue, Katipunan Avenue, Shuster, C.P. Garcia, Lt. J. Francisco Street, P. Francisco Street, Maginhawa Street, Masinsinan Street, White Plains, Quezon Avenue, and Elliptical  Road.

Personnel of the Traffic and Transport Management Department (TTMD) and the Department of Public Order and Safety (DPOS) have coordinated to manage the traffic flow in the affected areas.

Meanwhile, the local government also invited the cyclists to join the bike ride event that will tour various heritage sites in the city.

Participants can register on the day of the event at the Balintawak Monument.

Here are the requirements and details for joining:

• Participants are recommended to be 16 years old and above. Those under 18 must present a consent form from a parent or guardian.

• Participants should be in good health and physically fit to complete the 35 km bike trail.

• Bring your own tumbler. Water stations will be available at various heritage sites along the route.

• Free food will be provided to participants after the trail.
