Designing a space allows homeowners to showcase their identity and provides an outlet to express their personalities. Since its founding in 1981, Kare’s philosophy of "Joy of Living" has empowered homeowners to decorate their homes with products that best reflect who they are, creating imaginative and inspiring spaces filled with individuality and creativity.
Kare, an international brand specializing in furniture, lighting, and home accessories, was founded by two friends, Jürgen Reiter and Peter Schönhofen. On Friday, October 11, the founders opened its fourth showroom in the country, located at Garden Towers, Makati.
The celebration kicked off with a hotel-inspired theme called “Check In to the Kare Life,” starting with the unveiling of its signature red statue, Fred, bowing at the entrance to welcome guests.
Peter Schönhofen explained the decision to expand further into the Philippines: “The Philippines has a vibrant market for expressive designs, and we felt it was the perfect time to bring Kare’s playful and bold approach to home decor here. Filipinos have an incredible appreciation for creativity and individuality, which resonates deeply with our brand.”
Kare’s mission to transform spaces into unique experiences was brought to life through a collaboration with some of the Philippines' most talented creatives. Celebrated florist Teddy Manuel, lifestyle journalist Marie Lozano, and award-winning interior designer Chat Fores each contributed their unique touch to different sections of the store, infusing it with the brand’s fresh and bold design vision.
Kare’s Garden Towers showroom in Makati showcases its playful yet sophisticated approach to home decor, offering a wide range of bold and vibrant pieces. The Caldera Collection stands out with sleek black tabletops and chrome-plated steel bases, bringing a modern, artistic touch to any space. The Ciao Sofa Series, with its elegant Italian design and cozy half-rounded shape, adds both comfort and style to any living room. Meanwhile, the Grace Collection combines solid mango wood and marble tops for a timeless, harmonious look, making it a new classic in refined design.
With over 200 shops across nearly 50 countries, Kare continues to introduce world-class design to the Philippines, redefining joyful and expressive living through home decor. Schönhofen emphasized that this store is designed to evoke emotions, offering guests an experience beyond just furniture shopping: “We create a business around feelings, not just furniture, especially in the Philippines, where the market is very emotion-driven. For that, we are the right friend. We offer fresh ideas and innovative designs, all while remaining affordable,” said Schönhofen.
He added, "That’s why it was a natural step to open here on the street, as this location shows all of Manila that we are here. Other stores in malls might not be as visible, but this place ensures everyone knows we’ve arrived."
