The Quezon City local government declared a state of calamity on Friday, October 25, due to the impact of Severe Tropical Storm (STS) Kristine.
Vice Mayor Gian Sotto and Majority Leader Doray Delarmente led the session where the city council passed Resolution No. SP-9735, Series of 2024.
The declaration enables the city government to access its calamity fund and expedite relief and recovery efforts for those affected by the typhoon.
According to the city’s public information office, 2,518 families, or 8,880 individuals, have sought refuge in evacuation centers following the heavy rains and flooding in various barangays.
The city government continues to distribute relief goods to these affected families.
