Over 1,000 families evacuated in Pasig City

The local government of Pasig City said on Friday morning, October 25, that a total of 22 evacuation centers are open in the city, with 1,336 families temporarily sheltered due to the strong winds and heavy rains caused by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.

As of 7:30 a.m., the evacuation centers that are currently open are located in the city's 16 barangays: Bagong Ilog, Bambang, Dela Paz, Kalawaan, Kapasigan, Malinao, Manggahan, Maybunga, Pinagbuhatan, Rosario, San Joaquin, San Miguel, Santolan, Sta. Lucia, Sta. Rosa, and Barangay Ugong.

On Thursday night, October 24, Mayor Vico Sotto led the distribution of food packs, sleeping kits, and hot meals to evacuees.

The mayor reminded Pasigueños to follow the advice of their respective barangays if evacuation is needed for their safety. He also advised them to bring their family’s Go Bag.

He added that residents who have to wade through flood waters may get Doxycycline at health centers or evacuation centers to prevent leptospirosis.

Sotto also said that the city's Incident Management Team (IMT) has been active since October 23 and deployed thousands of personnel, from security to pumping stations, to ensure residents’ safety.

The local government also said that clearing operations are now ongoing in different parts of the city to remove broken tree branches from the roads.

It also continuously monitors the weather conditions to keep updating Pasigueños. 

It added that four pumping stations are still in operation to help manage flooding in the city.
