The Land Transportation Office (LTO) has cancelled all leaves of absence of law enforcement officers to enhance support for relief operations in Luzon and the Visayas following the devastation caused by Severe Tropical Storm "Kristine".
LTO chief Vigor D. Mendoza II said the directive aligns with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.'s call for continuous and efficient aid delivery to regions severely impacted by the storm.
“In line with this directive and upon instructions of DOTr [Department of Transportation] Secretary Jaime J. Bautista, all leaves of enforcers and key regional and district officers in storm-affected areas in Luzon and the Visayas are hereby cancelled until further instructions,” Mendoza said.
The President has urged all government agencies to assist victims of the recent storm, particularly in the Bicol region and the provinces of Cavite, Laguna, and Batangas, which were among the hardest hit.
In response to his call, Bautista has mobilized available resources to assist passengers, commuters, and motorists navigating impacted routes.
“Their [enforcers] presence is crucial in maintaining order and assisting in the smooth flow of aid and relief operations,” Mendoza added.
Trucks loaded with food and essential supplies are on their way to the affected areas, while rescue boats and equipment are prepared for deployment in regions still facing flooding.
“All LTO law enforcement officers in Luzon and Visayas are further directed to ensure visibility in your assigned areas to assist motorists, commuters, and stranded passengers affected by the disaster and be prepared to mobilize tow trucks and other necessary equipment to aid in clearing roadways and ensuring access for emergency vehicles and relief operations,” he said.
Mendoza reiterated that the cooperation and dedication of all LTO personnel are essential during this national emergency, ensuring public safety and the swift delivery of humanitarian aid to those in need.
