Mayor Honey deploys water filtration truck, rescue boats to aid typhoon victims in Naga

Manila City Mayor Honey Lacuna-Pangan deployed a team of 14 personnel from the Manila Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) to assist the local government of Naga City in its disaster response following Typhoon Kristine's fury.

The team left Manila at around 6 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, bringing with them essential rescue equipment.

They brought with them two "Ondoy" rescue boats with outboard motors, two rescue trucks, a mobile water filtration system, and a transporter truck.

The mayor assured Naga residents that help is on the way.

"Help is coming," Lacuna-Pangan said.

She thanked the MDRRMO staff for their efforts and urged them to stay safe during their mission.

"Maraming salamat sa inyo, mga kawani ng MDRRMO na tutulak papuntang Naga ngayong gabi. Mag-ingat kayo (Thank you very much to the staff of the MDRRMO who will be heading to Naga tonight. Stay safe),” she said.

Lacuna-Pangan assured Manila residents that the city remains fully prepared to respond to any emergency that may arise from the typhoon.

“Tinitiyak ko pong handang handa pa rin po ang Maynila at sapat ang ating pwersa para tugunan ang anumang kakailanganin ng ating Lungsod na may kinalaman sa anumang bagyo o sakuna kahit pa may rescue and emergency team tayong ipapadala sa Bicol (I assure you that Manila is fully prepared, and we have enough personnel to address any needs of our city related to any storm or disaster, even as we send a rescue and emergency team to Bicol),” she added.
