Defending champion De La Salle and Ateneo renew their rivalry anew at the resumption of the UAAP Season 87 men’s basketball tournament on Saturday, Oct. 26, at the Mall of Asia Arena in Pasay City.

The Green Archers, who booked the first Final Four berth a few days back, stake their six-game winning streak in their 6:30 p.m. affair with the resurgent Blue Eagles to improve their 9-1 win-loss record.
Prior to the fan-favorite tussle, University of the East aims to strengthen its Final Four bid when it squares off against lowly National University at 2 p.m.
The Red Warriors tote a 5-3 win-loss record at third place while the Bulldogs carry a 2-7 mark at the bottom standings.
La Salle coach Topex Robinson hopes his stalwarts are ready for another wild and gritty battle against Ateneo, which is coming off back-to-back wins that put them at fifth place with a 3-6 card.
“It will never change. Where you are right now, where you're standing, you're just going to forget everything because it's going to be Ateneo,” said Robinson, whose team also guns to reaffirm its mastery over the Eagles after beating them in the first round, 74-61, last Sept. 15.
“There's always going to be excitement. You play one of the best programs and there's so much history in this and we're just so grateful to be a part of it. So I guess more than anything else, we're so excited to play our worthy rivals,” he added.
Reigning MVP Kevin Quiambao is expected to lead his squad anew after starrring in La Salle’s 70-45 romp of Adamson, and is set to have ample support from Mike Phillips, Joshua David, Henry Agunnane and Raven Gonzales.
But Ateneo has its own arsenal in Andrew Bongo, Ian Espinosa, Shawn Tuano, Chris Koon and Jared Bahay, who carried the squad to a 67-64 escape from University of Santo Tomas last weekend.
Meanwhile, UE has ample time to rest after its Wednesday game against University of the Philippines was postponed due to Tropical Storm Kristine.
The Red Warriors are set to lean on Precious Momowei, John Abate, Gjerard Wilson, Wello Lingolingo and Rainer Maga to match up against the Bulldogs’ Jolo Manansala, PJ Palacielo and Jake Figueroa.
