'Tasingkwen na tayo': Isko spends 50th birthday with Manila's seniors in Boys Town


Former Manila mayor Franciso "Isko Moreno" Domagoso celebrated his 50th birthday with the senior ward of Manila Boys Town's Luwalhati ng Maynila on Thursday, October 24.

Despite heavy rains brought about by severe tropical storm "Kristine," Domagoso went to the shelter to bring food packs and other aid for the elderly.

To celebrate his birthday, the elderly of the shelter performed a short but lively dance/zumba performance for the former mayor who joined them in dancing.

They also shared their fond memories with the former mayor as well as how he has changed not just their lives, but also the lives of Manileños through his programs and initiatives during his tenure as the capital's local chief executive.

Domagoso assured them that these will programs will continue and that he will do his utmost best to create more ways to improve the lives of the city's residents, especially its elderly.

In a Facebook post, Domagoso wrote: "Salamat sa panibagong taon. Opo, tasingkwen na po ako today."

"10 years from now, beneficiary na rin po ako ng Manila Senior Citizen allowance at may cake pa!," he added.

The post, as of this writing, had more than 56,000 likes and loves, over 29,000 of comments, and 373 shares.

On March 6, the Manila Boys Town Complex celebrated its 77th anniversary celebration with the theme “Walang Hanggang Pasasalamat: Pitumpu't Pitong Taon ng Di Mapapantayang Kalinga at Pagmamahal."

The facility continues to serve as a home for the poorest, the abandoned, the elderly, and families on the streets throughout the city.

Department of Social Welfare Manila head Re Fugoso said there are a total of 666 wards being taken care of in the different units of the Manila Boys Town Complex as of March 5.
