STS ‘Kristine’ keeps classes in Eastern Metro Manila cities suspended

The local governments of Pasig, Marikina, Mandaluyong, and San Juan suspended the classes at all levels in both public and private schools in their cities on Friday, October 25, as Severe Tropical Storm Kristine continues to bring strong winds and heavy rains across the country.

As of 5 p.m. on Thursday, October 24, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA) placed Metro Manila under Signal No. 1 with moderate to heavy rainfall.

Residents were urged to stay updated and remain at home for their safety.

To check for updates on STS Kristine, they can visit the official Facebook accounts of their respective LGUs: Pasig Public Information Office, Marikina PIO, Mandaluyong City Public Information Office, and Mayor Francis Zamora.

The local governments have already prepared for the possible impacts of the severe tropical storm by deploying rescue boats in strategic and low-lying areas and distributing modular tents to their respective barangays in case of evacuation.

The local governments also advised their residents to immediately proceed to designated evacuation sites in their area if their barangays implement the preemptive evacuation.
