Malacañang suspended work in government offices and classes at all levels in the entire Luzon on Friday, Oct. 25, due to the persistent intense rainfall and strong winds brought about by Severe Tropical Storm Kristine.
In its announcement on Thursday evening, the Office of the Executive Secretary (OES) said the suspension of government work and classes was declared due to the raising of Tropical Cyclone Wind Signal No. 1, 2, and 3 in most areas of Luzon.
The suspension likewise aims to further aid in the government's rescue, relief, and recovery efforts.
Agencies providing basic and health services and those involved in disaster preparedness and response and other vital services must continue their operations.
Meanwhile, the localized cancellation or suspension of classes or work in government offices in other areas may be implemented by their respective local chief executives, under relevant laws, rules, and regulations.
The suspension of work for private companies and offices is left to the discretion of their respective heads.
