Severe Tropical Storm “Kristine” (international name “Trami”) made landfall over Divilacan, Isabela at 12:30 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 24, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA).

PAGASA said Kristine is expected to traverse Northern Luzon over the next 12 hours. After passing through the mountainous terrain, the center of the severe tropical storm may emerge over the waters west of Ilocos Region by Thursday morning or afternoon.

While crossing Northern Luzon, Kristine may weaken slightly due to land interaction and could be downgraded to a tropical storm.

However, it may reintensify once it moves over the West Philippine Sea, PAGASA said.

In the PAGASA’s 11 p.m. bulletin on Wednesday, Oct. 23, Kristine has maximum sustained winds of 95 kilometers per hour (kph) near the center and gusts reaching up to 115 kph.
