The Rizal provincial government has suspended classes in all levels, both in public and private schools, on Wednesday, October 23.

Rizal Governor Nina Ricci Ynares made the announcement following the state weather bureau’s bulletin that moderate to heavy rains are expected in the province on Wednesday afternoon to Thursday afternoon as a result of the effect of tropical storm Kristine.

As of 10 p.m. on October 22, the province was under Storm Signal No. 1.

In Antipolo City, Mayor Casimiro “Junjun” Ynares III has called on disaster managers from the city down to the barangays to start pre-positioning response assets such as food and non-food items ahead of the bad weather.

The mayor also ordered all concerned agencies in the city government to be ready for the possible pre-emptive evacuation in flood- and landslide-prone areas in the city.

There were light to moderate rains in the city proper as of 10 p.m. on October 22 with all of the road passable according to reports reaching the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office.

The provincial government has released the emergency contact numbers of the respective local disaster management units.
