Marikina LGU readies rescue equipment as TS ‘Kristine’ intensifies


The Marikina City Rescue 161, the city's Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (DRRMO), has already prepared its facilities and rescue boats and emergency vehicles on standby to ensure the safety of its residents as Tropical Storm Kristine intensified.

Evacuation camps or centers were also being readied in the city's barangays with designated rooms for evacuees with specific needs such as persons with disabilities (PWDs), senior citizens, pregnant women, and others.

On Tuesday, October 22, the Marikina DRRMO also conducted an advance prepositioning of boats in strategic areas as well as citywide patrols.

The early preparations were ordered by Mayor Marcy Teodoro to ensure the safety of every Marikeño.

According to the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (PAGASA's) 8 a.m. bulletin, Metro Manila remained under Signal No. 1.

Moderate to, at times, intense rainfall is also expected in Metro Manila, the rest of Luzon, Visayas, Dinagat Islands, and Surigao del Norte.
