French vessel makes port call in PH


A French vessel is now in the Philippines as part of France's commitment to strengthen maritime cooperation with the country.

French surveillance frigate Prairial on Tuesday, Oct. 22, docked at Cebu port for a port call that will last until Oct. 25.

It is part of her operational deployment in the Indo-Pacific, and is "one of many expressions of the concrete implementation of the letter of intent defining a roadmap for strengthening cooperation between the two countries," according to the French Embassy in Manila.

Prairial is a Floréal-class frigate that is based in the French Polynesian capital of Papeete. It belongs to the Armed Forces in French Polynesia.

Dedicated to a wide range of missions, including sovereignty missions in French exclusive economic zones, humanitarian aid and cooperation, Prairal is 94 meters long and has a crew of around 100 and carries a Dauphin helicopter.

She also regularly carries out missions in Asia.
