The Las Piñas City government reminded residents not to leave their pets behind in case of needing to evacuate due to the possible strong winds and heavy rains to be brought by Tropical Storm Kristine.

Mayor Imelda Aguilar ordered the City Veterinary Office (CVO) to prepare and conduct rescue operations for animals that will be left behind by owners in case of flooding.

The CVO advised pet owners to include their pets in their family’s evacuation plan. It also urged pet owners without a pet crate or carrier to prepare a plastic basin or laundry basket in case of evacuation.

Animal cages will be provided at the evacuation camp, the local government assured.

In case of evacuation and they can no longer bring with them their pets, the CVO said that it is best to remove them from their leash.

To better ensure their safety, residents were also asked to prepare a “go bag," a backpack or bag containing medicine and water for family and pets.

Pet owners who will not be able to bring their pets with them can call the animal health and welfare services at 8255-2911 or the animal control service at 0931-205-1715 to rescue their dogs and cats.
