DILG: Remulla opts for “no gift policy’’


 

Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG) Secretary Juanito Victor “Jonvic’’ Remulla will not to receive gifts in line with the no-gift policy for government employees and officials.

In a statement, the DILG said that,as a matter of policy, all persons are requested not to give any gifts to the DILG secretary.

The DILG added that the “department will respectfully return any gifts sent.” 

In lieu of such gifts, the DILG said that those concerned “may consider making a donation to your chosen charity.’’

The DILG noted that the secretary “conveys his heartfelt appreciation for your sincerity and best wishes,” the notice further reads.’’

Section 7 (d) of the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees states that “public officials and employees shall not solicit or accept, directly or indirectly, any gift, gratuity, favor, entertainment, loan or anything of monetary value from any person in the course of their official duties or in the course of their official duties or in connection with any operation being regulated by, or any transaction which may be affected by the functions of their office.

Remulla, who belongs to a family of politicians in Cavite, is the son of former governor Juanito Remulla Sr.and brother of fellow politicians Gilbert and Jesus Crispin, the current Justice secretary, was born on October 23, 1967.
