DBM approves P454-million vehicle purchase to boost DOH healthcare services
Department of Budget and Management (DBM) Secretary Amenah F. Pangandaman has authorized a P454 million vehicle purchase for the Department of Health (DOH).
On Oct. 17, Pangandaman approved the issuance of an Authority to Purchase Motor Vehicle (APMV) to strengthen the country's healthcare system.
“The approval of the APMV is intended for the procurement of 173 units of motor vehicles chargeable against the Health Facilities Enhancement Program (HFEP) of the DOH under the FY 2024 General Appropriations Act (GAA),” DBM said in a statement on Oct. 23.
This APMV covers the second batch of motor vehicles, following the initial batch of 141 units included in the APMV issued on June 11, 2024.
According to DBM, the program seeks to fill gaps in healthcare delivery and enhance the accessibility of facilities and services in the country.
"The purchasing of additional medical vehicles will surely augment the ongoing structural enhancements of our healthcare system,” Pangandmana said.
“Sinusuportahan po natin ang hangarin ni Pangulong Bongbong Marcos na bigyang-prayoridad ang pagpapalakas sa ating mga health facility para makapagbigay ng mas mahusay at maasahang serbisyo sa ating mga kababayan," the budget chief added.
[We support President Bongbong Marcos's aim to prioritize the strengthening of our health facilities to provide better and more reliable services to our countrymen.]
In detail, the DBM stated that the APMV will finance the acquisition of 161 land ambulances, two mobile primary care facilities, four sea ambulances, four passenger vans, one patient transport vehicle, and one mobile blood donation van.
