Police Lt. Col. Alvimar Flores, Sagay police chief, said the vehicle loaded with assorted pasalubong (welcome) products was headed to Bacolod from Cebu around 10:30 a.m. when the driver reportedly lost control due to its heavy load.

The truck moved in reverse and turned upside down before falling off a ravine.

Flores said the 47-year-old driver managed to jump out of the vehicle but Montemor failed to get out as he was stuck on the front seat.

Rescuers needed five hours to remove the victim from the vehicle.

Flores said the victim’s remains will be transported back to Cebu while the driver was released from police custody after the lapse of the reglementary detention.

The victim’s family has yet to decide if they will file a case because of the incident.
