Grade 9 student arrested for possession of shabu in Taguig


A male Grade 9 student was arrested by the police after he was found in possession of suspected shabu in Taguig on Oct. 21. 

The 17-year-old student and another suspect were arrested at about 9:45 p.m. during a foot patrol conducted by the Taguig Police in Barangay Ususan. 

According to the police, the student was tagged as a high value individual. He was caught in possession of one plastic sachet of shabu, weighing 80 grams valued at P544,000.

The other suspect, alias Alvin, yielded 25 grams of shabu worth P170,000. However, Alvin escaped after he resisted arrest and pushed a police officer. 

Authorities are still conducting follow-up operations for his arrest.

The illegal drugs were brought to the Southern Police District Forensic Unit for chemical analysis. 

The student, classified as a  Child in Conflict with the Law, was turned over to the Department of Social Welfare and Development in Taguig. 

He will be charged for violation of Republic Act 9165 (Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002).
